I was a tall and skinny boy most of my childhood. Being among a family of high standards and expectation, which left me- a normal boy feeling constantly stressed for trying to fulfill the expectations put on me.
In junior high school I started to gain a noticeable amount of weight and by high school I became overweight. This period of my life left its mark on me- something in me began to shut down, it was not only in my body, but my relationship with people that started to deteriorate as well.
Deep down I rejected who I was and refused to do something about it. I reached the point of just being giving in to living this way, but I hated the way people were seeing me.
I was a 16 year-old overweight teenager with very low self-esteem. Needless to say that interaction with the opposite sex was a painful one. I heard the usual statements “Beauty is in the inside” but it only made me feel worse. It only made me feel more alienated. I grew cynical, and decided to just stay away from people in general (obviously much harder than it sounds). Around people, I was labeled as shy and introverted, but they didn’t understand that my internal pain was a battle. I had another huge blow to my self-esteem I also had a stuttering problem.
I was under a deep impression that if people didn’t accept me physically, they might accept me for my abilities. I was determined to make some good strides towards a positive change. So I joined in activities that were more mental and based on intellect. If I couldn’t be appreciated for my how I looked, I at least wanted to be for my intelligence.
In college, my weight increased and I developed health issues. My lack of concern for myself blinded me from the damage I was causing my body. I reached my biggest- 157kg/346lbs. Being the son of a doctor made the whole situation more tense. Even though my health was growing to be a major concern to my parents, I just continued living in denial; there was nothing I felt they could do anyway.
A facial paralysis was the traumatic event to make me wake up and realize how much I was suffering physically. I feared death and learned the hard way that my life span was being greatly reduced because of my decisions. I woke up to the painful thoughts of how it would impact my family if I left too soon. It was time to do something about all of this.
People say that opportunities come when you are ready and determined, and I was sure that I was good and ready for mine to come. I was introduced to YOR Health shortly after (more than a year ago now). With my new found determination to fuel me, I decided to get my health back in order the right way, and I promised myself I wouldn’t give up until I achieved what I set out to do.
I was surprised to find how simple it made my diet program, withstand strenuous workouts and lose weight while still being nourished consistently.
When YOR Health introduced the 8-week challenge, I vowed to win, not just for me, but also for other people that were facing similar situations that I had. I wanted to be a source of inspiration for them! To tell them that if I could do it, THEY could do it!
I began my journey with the 8-week challenge and I have changed myself dramatically. Since the YOR Health Annual conference in Las Vegas, Paradise Point, and the national event in Leon, my life has been positively impacted and I have been on the road to improvement ever since.
I’ve found a lot of support in the books by Dan Millman. He wrote 3 books that left a deep impression on me. ‘The Way of the Peaceful Warrior”, “No Ordinary Moments”, and “Body Mind Mastery”.
I learned to meditate and it has created a greater self-consciousness, increased my determination, and accept things as they are. My new understanding of the natural spiritual laws and my self-awareness helped me achieve something greater than what diet and exercise alone could do.
Today, I have successfully changed my body in the way I once dreamt of. I have lost 46kg/101 lbs. of fat, and I’m beginning to build muscle. I continue to take all of the products recommended for the Best Body Challenge regimen. Daily, I complete about 2.5- 3 hours of exercise that includes: cardio, weight lifting, swimming. I continue developing my self-consciousness so I can be a better person.
I feel amazing! I continue to commit to this new life style not just for the health improvements, but also for the increase of confidence in myself. I continue for all the people I want to inspire. I haven’t reached all my goals yet, but it feels great just knowing I’m on the path to make it at a clear and strong pace. I continue with a determination for what I want and what I know I can have. No more wishing, it’s all about doing.
