Originally from New York and raised in Chicago, he received degrees in Finance from the University of South Florida, and in law from Georgetown. He moved to Southern California in 1987, and applied his legal skills with the IRS, Governor Gray Davis, and Senator Barbara Boxer.

Mr. Chiang was elected in 2006 as the Controller of California – a truly challenging post that demonstrates an extraordinary ability to face challenge powerfully and effectively. He has an exemplary record of achievements during the most fiscally difficult times in the history of the state. In 2010 he was elected to a second term in this position, which is considered to be the 3rd most important elected office in California.
